We are now going to make a Music Magazine of any genre. To make the music magazine we need to research on recent music magazine’s and find the codes and conventions so we can include them into our magazine. We are going to make the magazine in a group of 4 everyone is going to make one magazine for every month. But we need to make sure that we keep the house style the same, so the audience is able to tell it’s from the same magazine. To keep the house style the same we need to keep the colours similar and the font we use for the title.

I have taken my pictures for my magazine and I have started to edit them on photoshop. My main story is about a new book club that has started after schools. It's mainly aimed at girls because they like reading more than boys, I found out tis information by carrying out a little research where I went around asking different aged grils and boys if they liked reading. My results showed that not many girls or boys like reading, however more girls than boys said that they did. My secondary lead is about the new school ties, I have taken pictures of students from different houses with different coloured ties.

We have to make flat plans of our front cover and contets page, this is so when we start making our magazine it's easier for us because we know what we are doing. The good thing about flat planning is that if we don't like the layout we can do it again so we don't make any mistakes. After we have done our flat planning we have to take pictures of it and upload them for evidence and if there is a layout that we decided not to use we have to upload that aswell and say why we didnt't use it.

We have to ask people in our classroom questions about the school magazine, this is so we know the views of the people the magaizne would be aimed at and what would attract them. For evidence we have to record their voices or make a video of them. The questions we ask are, what colours would attract you? What would you like to read about? using the results after the taking the questinaire we know what colours or images we should use for our magazine.

In the music magazine the magazine is based on celebrities, whereas in the school magazine it’s all based on the school, students, teachers and the school life.

Different music magazines are aimed at different people depending on their age, gender, ethnicity and areas of interest on the other hand a school magazine is aimed at parents and school kids. This is because a school magazine includes information for parents and students. Whereas music magazines feature article that are aimed at different audiences.

Furthermore a school magazine would contain articles on the school, or things that are happening around the school, but in the music magazine the articles are about celebrities and their music. So the school magazine is about your community and what’s happening around you, whereas the music magazine is about the new music thats out. The school magazine informs you about the school and makes the school sound positive.

On the other hand both magazines are similar in some ways, for example they use the same codes and conventions. On the front cover they have the central image, main headline, secondary lead and a lure to lure the reader into reading the magaizne. Also inside they both have a contents page that allows the reader to know what is going to be inside the magazine.

It is essential for all magazines to have codes and conventions, as they play a big role in the magazine itself. The codes and conventions allow the target audience of that magazine to have a better understanding.

One code and convention of magazines is imagery. Images are very necessary for a magazine as they attract the target audience. The images used in magazines are mostly original photographs taken by that magazine they are often of celebrities that would be liked by the target audience of that magazine.

Magazines also need to have a contents page. The contents page allows the reader to know what will be covered inside the magazine. The contents page is like a little preview of what will be inside the magazine.

Also the headline and features that are at the front of the magazine are important, this is because they allow the reader to understand what will be covered inside the magazine. For example the magazine needs to have a main headline so the reader knows what the main story is, also if the images don’t attract the target audience the headline would as it would be big and bright. Furthermore the masthead is also compulsory because it identifies the newspaper and the reader will know what magazine it is. The masthead is usually found at the top of the front cover, it is sometimes in a block of red or black so the masthead stands out.

For our frist preleminary task we have to annotate around 2 school magazines and 2 music magazines. We need to write down all the codes and convetions and then compare the music magazine with the school magazine.

I have just started blogging for my foundaton portfolio.
My preleminary task is to produce a school magazine with the codes and conventions of magazines . It needs to include a front cover, double page atricle and a contents page it also needs to include original images taken by me.
